Material Property Uncertainties versus Joint Structural Detailing: Relative Effect on the Seismic Fragility of Reinforced Concrete Frames

چکیده
This paper investigates the relative effect of material properties and structural details in joint panels on seismic fragility existing reinforced concrete (RC) frames. Five building classes with different (particularly panels) characteristics are defined according to past design codes, for a three-story six-story archetype geometry. Based nonlinear static or dynamic analysis procedures, results from study show that considered structures is negligible damage states involving an essentially elastic behavior. Conversely, it much higher life-safety near-collapse states, considerably than due materials. Therefore, diagnosis phase, emphasis should be given on-site investigations actual reinforcement content/layout rather invasive testing. The uncertainty related described here practically exterior, interior, panels. Cover removal one those joints may potentially eliminate this specific uncertainty. As practical action, situ testing RC frames involve cover at least exterior panel regardless required target “level knowledge” structure.

Fragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Frames with Lap-Spliced Columns
Placing column lap-splice in the locations of possible nonlinear deformation may adversely affect the structures response to strong ground motions. Localization of damage in splice zone may change the structural response and prevent the load redistribution and development of a uniform pattern of nonlinear excursions among the various members. Validated by existing laboratory experiments, this s...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Seismic Behavior of Steel Reinforced Concrete Beam-Columns and Frames
The ability to perform accurate nonlinear simulations is a key component in the assessment of the behavior of seismic force resisting systems. A three-dimensional distributed plasticity formulation for composite beam-columns suitable for nonlinear static and dynamic analyses of composite seismic force resisting systems has been developed. New uniaxial constitutive relations are developed for th...
متن کاملDamage-Based Seismic Performance Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Frames
A damage-based approach for the performance-based seismic assessment of reinforced concrete frame structures is proposed. A new methodology for structural damage assessment is developed that utilizes response information at the material level in each section fiber. The concept of the damage evolution is analyzed at the section level and the computed damage is calibrated with observed experiment...
